Transverse vs. Straight exhaust setups
I've got a 92 Integra and as you know the car has a transverse exhaust. The three 90deg bends around the rear axle make me think that there is a decent amount of power to be gained.
At the same time if I did go straight, I'm expecting the volume would go up. Now since I already want to quiet it down, I was thinking of getting an extra large glasspack to replace my stock sized resonator in the midpipe and modifiying the exhaust to eliminate the double 90 degree bends in the transverse design.
My question is, would the power gain be noticable on a highly top end worked LS (runs 14.55 on old tranny) and how much louder would it be? Would replacing the resonator with an extra long glassback quiet it down enough? TIA

I think there wont be much gain in torque, if you go out the right side. I agree your statement on how it might be louder if you do. You will have to find a muffler equally as effective as your current one to fit up in that small space. The rear bumper tab is obstructing the way for a tip exit. I wonder if its possible to relocate it upwards.
Not all extra long resonators will give more silencing. I have a 22" Magnaflow resonator (replaced my thermal resonator), it is the longest one they make for 2.25". It is much more louder now, and more raspy.
