Default Job, lol

So I had interview 1 of 2 today for a new job. It was in a conference room with a triangular table, me at the corner and 3 guys across from me like an interrogation. When we were almost done, they asked me if I had any other questions about the job. I said no, and they started to stand up. Then I said, "wait....actually, I hope this doesn't bruise my interview but I had some previous engagements for June 9, 10, 11 and I was wondering if i did get hired, if that would be a problem to get off. If so, I can make arrangements?" (I was laughing so hard inside because Henryx33 told me he did the same **** for a job because of EXPO8. Henry said don't tell them you want to get off to go racing, lol). I have another interview in 2 hours and yes, i'm going to say the same thing.

In the crowd of part of my crew:

I did that when I interviewed for my current job, except to go to Cedar Point. I was asked "Where do you see yourself in two weeks?". I just replied "In two weeks I'll be in Ohio." They got slightly confused as they were thinking I'd say something to the effect of "Starting a position within your organization" or something to that effect. I got the call that I was hired about 45 minutes later

Ha... Told my boss when I got hired I need the 2 or 3 week in March off (12 hours of Sebring) AND sometime in June off for at least 3 days.

Boss actually enjoys some of the photos I share as well.

?? Any employer that isn't in a very desperate need of a warm body will have no problem allowing a new employee to take a pre-planned vacation as long as you tell them about it first. You just have to tell them before you get offered the job, as with anything a potential employer doesn't want to get surprised.

Think about it for a second......wouldn't it make sense to tell them after they have offered you the job? Telling someone who is considering you that you need time off before they even make you an offer is just plain stupid.
cheers anyway

Depends on whether you think short-term or long-term. You may be allowed that vacation after you take the job, but it will leave you in an unfavorable light when they think about the fact that you knew about it and didn't mention it before they extended an offer to you. It will be remembered during bonus and/or incentive increase time and it WILL result in a lower increase in pay/lower bonus. It shows a complete lack of respect for your potential new employer to not disclose a pre-planned vacation during a job interview when said vacation is 1 month or so away. It's different if it's 6 months away, since they would never know that you had planned it before interviewing for the job, but 1 month away? If a new hire did that to me, I'd absolutely remember it for their review. On the other hand, if they told me during the interview, I'd have no problem at all with it.

Hahah! I received a promotion to Area Manager of the corporation I work for and the said to the Owner/CEO that I only had one stipulation to accepting the role.

I told him I need off in early June for the Expo!

May 9th I believe. Only thing I got left to do is put new front pads on and flush the brake fluid.

What fluid did you get?

I've still got to order my pads, and I'll probably do them 2 weeks from Thursday at my next shop night.
