question about d16y7/y8 vtec conversion
i have a 98 civic hatch dx with a d16y7 engine and i am looking to do a vtec head conversion using a y8 head. i already have the complete d16y8 engine/ecu with a bad block. the y8 is out of a 2000 civic ex. All i need to know if do i need a kit like the LS/vtec to make it work? and do i need to do some kind of work to mate the y7 block/y8 head? what im trying to say is that will the y8 head slap right onto the y7 block without any special tuning? i believe the y7 engine has a higher compression ratio than the y8 so i think having a y7/vtec should have more potential than a d16y8. i know this may be a stupid question but im new at these things and i need help. thanks
There is no such thing as stupid a question. As for the mini-me-vtec conversion I believe you don't need a kit like the Ls-vtec to make it work cause i never did on mine and its running good if not then
.
.
so the y8 head will mate with the y7 block with no modifying? basically plug and play style right? but what about the obd-2b and obd-2a thing? will i need any aftermarkets adapter or anything? and about the throttle cable, will the y7 throttle cable work for the y8 intake manifold?
