Default Cant get the dash out of the DA, help!

I got all the bolts out its ready to come out but the long light switch on the column is in the way. I dont know if I am suppose to remove it and also the steering wheel. I trying to do this without damaging anything, it easy to take **** apart. Putting it back together is a pain in the ***!! Anyone got a DA, and done the same?????Some to post pics, Im doin the entire interior, maybe I should let the guy do it. The thing is that he wants to paint it but while its still on there. I want it of then painted, so it can be done right. IM very picky about stuff like that...

I'll post the neck bolts in a moment that are on the steering shaft.

Look past this trim where the metal knee guard goes straight across between that and the metal guard ( take that knee guard off).

You'll see one of these on each side it will drop the column that should give you your room.

Thanks man, that was a great diagram! I got all the bolts out but it wont come out. The steering wheel is in the dam way. You are telling me that all I have to do is drop the steering column? Can I run into any problems? Should I just paint the dash while its still on there? What do you think? Would there be any difference?

Dropping the column is easy and straight forward, so you shouldn't run into any problems. Personally I'd take the dashboard out to paint it.

i took the dash out of my dA with out dropping the column. it's tight but if someone takes the weight off of the passenger side of the dash you can squeeze the dash up and over the steering wheel and the light lever, that worked for me numorous times but either way works, good luck

Did you disconnect the harnness from the fuse box? I looked in a "Chilton" repair manual a it says to disconnect. I will continue it on sunday. I really dont want to drop the column but if I paint the dash Im thinking I might damage it putting it back on, if its a tight sqeeze like you say.

I follow your diagram and also a repair manual. Well, I did it today and it was easy. The only thing is I had to disconnect the harnesses from the fuse but after the it came right off. I will post pics of when its off tomorrow. If I can figure it out!he,he!

Follow the instructions MIDSHIPCIVIC gave and use the diagram. There is a picture showing under the dash(the second pic), you see those two screws? Well, there are two on both sides. Once you unloosesn all four, that is half of the job. Next, there are another two in the back, unloosen those and their you have it. That thing will now sit on the floor. I put a milk create in place to hold it up. I use it to sit on while doing other stuff. Hey, one thing nobody mentioned was to disconnect the harnesses from the fuse box!! Dont forget the instrument panel(gauges), there are harnesses back there also! When I got to the harnesses on the fuse box, I was very carefull, because of the alarm and other stuff. Are you going to paint your dash also? I still debating if I should paint it myself or have the dude that is doing my seats do the dam thing. I have heard good things about SEM. Have you ever used it? Good luck, Homie!
