Default Pioneer DEH-6400 vs. Sony CDX-M730

im looking to replace my current headunit, because my alpine is just to bright at night time. (even when dimmed)

theses are the two that im think about
1. the Pioneer

2. the sony

anyone have experiences w/ any of these headunits? if so share your thoughts.

or if you had to pic which one what would it be?
thanx.

don't get the sony. it is super bright at night, and i don't feel like dimming mine, so it stays bright!

i like the pioneer better because the buttons are on the same side as the face

i like my ABP sony, but i like the pioneer more

DxHatchback,

the sony looks real nice when the face is up.

when the face is up is it really that bright or is it real bright when you open it?
is it hard to dim the brightness?

soundwise.... i had a nakaimichi before...the best headunit, but broke on me! THen i got that sony head unit. The sound quality is quiet different but i like it more than my old one! i always get compliments on it, and when the face is flipped down at night, its bright, but you always have other drivers looking into your car seeing whats glowing. If it bothers you, flip it up and it looks just as clean or even better! plus if its up..no buttons for the passengers to push unless they grab hold of the controller! so basically i'm recommending the sony, my friend has the panasonic, which is good too, but i like mine better.

bustahnetz101,

thanx for the info. im leaning toward the sony cause i like the all blk face when its flipped up, and the fact that the face is motorized to fold down. (unlike the pioneer)

anyone have thoughts on the pioneer?

thanx for all the info again.

the menus on the pioneer are great. the pictures make it very user friendly. however i would recommend the sony just because the buttons on the pioneer are microscopic.

A motorized face just means more **** that could tear up on the unit. I have the Pioneer and it is great.

i got the sony cdx-m730 about two weeks ago...its sounds great, has everything u need . and when its closed it realy discreet, so u won't have some theives looing in u're car to see what u have. it almost looks like nothing is in there, when the car is off

My experience is that just yesterday, I got my window smashed open and the radio, (without the face cause it was in my house), was ripped out of the dash. The lesson, Alarms are the best car mod!
