Default New Paint/Rust Removal

I bought this car almost a year ago now, its great fun and want to keep it for as long as I possibly can. The previous owner had it repainted, only because he had to replace the rear bumper (little fender bender he got into)

When I first bought the car there was hardly any (visible...) rust on it, but this winter has been pretty brutal and some new (tiny) rust spots have appeared. Now, I don't know about you guys, but I F***ING HATE RUST, and want to take care of this crap asap.

Pics.

I know it doesn't look like anything serious, probably because right now it really isn't, but if I let this go for one more winter I'm afraid it may get much worse

Basically, I'm looking for opinions on what I should do, I'm pretty set on fresh paint, but how much money should a good paint job cost? I want something thats going to last me a while. Is is worth doing all the prep work and sanding/bondo myself, or would I be better off letting a shop do it? I DONT want crappy work done, I need this to last a while.

Thanks for any comments/suggestions/ideas

Honestly thats very minimal rust, they should just be able to touch it up. The rest of the paint looks really fresh.

If you do want a full paint job, itll probably be about 2500 bucks. Ask around and find out what the best local place is.

Id probably let them do all the prep since a lot of people dont like getting pre-prepped cars.

It will not cost 2500 to do a full paint job on that car with the rust. My car is way worse than that and my highest quote so far has been 1300 with a BC/CC. Where they actually told me, "So, we can't paint over your previous paint because of the amount of damage, we are going to have to strip it down to the metal."

I have no idea where youre going or if you have hookups but i just had the front bumper and fender sprayed on my Fit, and it cost 1200 bucks.... The lowest quote i got was 700 and that place was sketchy as hell.

i got quoted 3k for mine, it wouldve been 2, but since it had to be stripped to bare metal and i wanted it completely painted from the engine bay to the door jamps complete, it was 3k for PPG paint.

honestly... you are going to be VERY suprised how much rust is underneath there.... take out your windsheild and get ready to throw up bud. That water drain channel is infamous for holding lots of rust back there. Sorry

The man speaks the truth. I will back this up from experience as well. I can also guarantee you that your rear quarters have some decay lurking in them somewhere.

Yeah I've herd about under the windshield, and there are a few spots here and there that I couldn't take pics of with my shitty camera. I don't mind paying 3k if it means I'm not going to have to worry about the paint or rust for a while, this **** is driving me mad! The windshield needs to be replaced anyways, besides don't most good shops take the windshield out to paint? Or am I completely wrong? Never had a car painted before...Thanks for the replies so far.

honestly...you dont know actually how much rust there is on the car till you start actually stripping down the car and start peeling off that paint.

same thing happen to my car and there was waaaaaaaay more rust on her than i thought there was and you dont even know how much bondo there is either.

i got my full body painted for 1200$ for a complete paint job..
i would watch out cause, mine is starting to have stone chips and it was a shotty paint job. i garauntee i wont be going back to them anymore.
