I got a 94 LS Auto integra.

I was driving along the highway and is fine and all of a sudden the check engine light came on, all lights shut off and the car died. I had to pull over to the shoulder to try to and start it and nothing at first then i eventually got it started but once I gave it gas and got over about 40 Km/h it died again. This happened a month or so ago and all was fine since then til this past weekend. Same thing happened, check engine light came on and car died right after. Right now there is no check engine light or anything on the cluster.

Luckily enough I wasn't too far from home and was able to get it home by driving it gently.

I dont know what could be the issue. I know it's not the alternator cause the lights don't dim or anything and no indicators on the cluster.

Could it be the distributor? Charcoal canister? Fuel pump even maybe?

I have a viper remote start/alarm combo, could the remote start be involved somehow? I don't even know where to begin to troubleshoot since it's an intermittent problem.

I think I remember that on an OBD1 I can check the flashing light on the ECU thats behind the passenger side kick panel for codes even if the check engine light isn't on in the cluster?

Any input you guys can give would be great cause I really dont wanna be strained in the middle of no where .

 

u should check what code the cel is throwing. it helps out a lot.

 

when the car shuts of, is there power to your console, lights deck etc?

if yes
are there any gas smells near or around your car after it shuts off?
after it shuts off do you hear your fuel priming when you turn on your car? (mechanical motor whirrring sound, sorry for my crapy descrpition.)

im guessing its a fuel pump problem, or fuel rail, if electrical is ruled out.

No gas smells and no lights as far as I can remember.

Is the priming of the fuel pump that buzzing noise that you hear when you put the key to accessory (a buzzing noise near the cluster/steering column area) for a sec or two? If that's the priming then no I don't hear that buzzing noise.

I guess I will try to change the fuel pump if thats the case.

 

Same issue happened last night. Anyone else have input? And is that buzzing noise upfront near the cluster/steering column area the priming of the fuel pump? Cause i don't hear a buzzing noise anymore.

Thanks, really want to get this issue fixed cause I hate driving my car now cause im afraid it randomly dying on me and causing an accident or something.
