OT: Stopped In To Look At A New Civic Si Today, And.......
The dealer had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to.....are you ready for this.....He said... "You looking to trade UP?"
Now, I havent really seen an Si up close and personal yet, and I actually thought about test driving one just to see its capabilities. Till this retard opened his mouth.
I got kinda smart with him which is odd for me, but I think I was still fuming from the riced out mustang owner talking **** to me from the day before. Plus he didnt help the situation.
I said to him "Are you kidding?" in a serious tone. He replies "Uhhhh no. I saw you looking at it and I saw your car so I assumed you were looking for SOMTHING A LITTLE FASTER." So now he's got me a little tee'd off. I say "Do you even know what this is?" He says "Yeah, an Integra." I said "No, its not just an Integra, its an Integra Type-R. Its a 97 Integra Type-R." So he shows me his wisdom and says "Well I know its not real cause Type-R Integra's didnt come out till 2000 and they were only in Yellow." I just laughed, I couldnt help it. I had to get out of there. As I'm climbing into my car he's like "Whats so funny?" I just shake my head and say "Nothing man,.....nothing." and I left. I tell ya, some people amaze me.

I agree no matter where you go these days to look at Honda's there is stupid salesman who don't know what they are talking about and dont have a clue about the product.
Obviously the salesman you thinks the Si is the next best thing to sliced bread. I am sure your ITR as would mine would run circles around the new Si

You should have taken him for a white knuckle ride!
Just around a block or two.

let him ride in ur car and whip around corners like a madman, then he'll know that our cars are superior. what was that guy thinking?? Instead of driving off, I think I would have brought him along to the manager of the joint and explained to both of the stunnaz that there was a 1997 type-r and a 98 and that they are in fact nicer than the 2000's. Quality control was much better on the older R's.Just my 2 cents. Test drive the new Si at the same dealership and rape the lil crapper.

haha....this reminded me of a similar run in I had w/ a sales person for a new Si too. I parked my car up front, and as i go in, he approaches me asking what im interested in, i say im here to check out the new Si, but not interested in buying it. He says, its ok...he can work something out, you can trade in your car we'll give you about 12k then you only have to finance a few thousand dollars...im like WTF. So, now im playing stupid..i respond, i didnt think of that, lets run a estimate on my car, so he gets out his paper work, does what he needs to do, takes it to the manager. They're in there for like 15 mins..then the manager comes out...he signals me into his office..and he says "son, i dont know what kind of car it is, but my honest opinion is that you keep it and you dont trade it in to us" im like why do you say that, he says,....in all my years of being a sales person, i have never run across an estimate sheet that states the car does not have a value (before kbb priced our cars)....
most sales people i think are the most non educated people about what they are selling

Things like that frustrate me. Some people are so stupid, you can't even say anything....it sucks.
That's what I would have done

I know its somewhat frustrating to go to a dealership and have some salesman tell you some outrageously erroneous $hit but lets face it, most salesman are not in the game because they are enthusiasts. A lot of them are salesman because they think they can make a lot of money, and many of them are not big fans of the marque they're selling. Not to mention that the turnover rate is very high for car salesmen.
When you run into a salesman that tells you something stupid, politely correct him. If he gets smart, give him web addresses where he can look up the information for himself, if possible look for it with him. Enlightening people about the brand is good for everybody, especially people who would like to buy one of the performance Hondas but knows nothing about them. You wouldn't want someone to buy an 02 Si thinking its faster than an ITR would you? So tell the next uninformed salesperson whats up so that doesn't happen.

Haha, its true, dealers don't know sheet. When i went to test drive a rsx type s, i decided to ask the guy if the car had a limited slip just for kicks. The guy had no idea what i was talking about, and he said "i think".
Oh well, i guess they will do anything just to sell you a car. He also said that it was faster than a type r
, please.
Car had a nice interior though

What pisses me off is the stupidity that these TOOLS exhibit.. If you don't know something, no big deal, but to act like a smart-*** and make silly comments. It's uneccesary and sometimes borderline offending... Maybe these salesmen should LISTEN and LEARN from knowledgeable customers.. Most of them truly don't know ****...

haha funny story.... dealer salesmen, got to love them!
when I drove my 2000 Black R to the Honda dealer, they only had one Si and it was up on display, not in the regular lot. The guy looked at my car, smiled, complimented me, and said I could take the SI for a test drive if I wanted - didn't look like they were even giving test drives on it yet, but he was cool
They're not -all- bad I guess, heh

I would have told the salesman I was thinking about buying one as a beater so I don't have to put too many miles on my Type R.

My first impressions of the new SI.... exterior--looks like a hybrid, a small little minivan..... interior--very nice, it has the ITR look..... after the test drive--car does NOT handle anything close to the ITR.... feels kinda sloppy..... the acceleration sucks.... redline is at 6,400 or lower (I think).... and this all out of a 2.0L engine..... damn, not impressive whatsoever.... the salesman who was giving me the testdrive kept on giving me specs on the car itself.. so I kept on giving him the specs on my car..... all in all... ITR Rules the 02 SI.... then when we got off... I asked him if he wanted to go for a test drive in a real car (MY CAR), but he just smiled and just said OK.....
Upgrade? What, into a strut suspension, environmentally friendly designed engine with less power and handiling capabilities?

the reason i say that the 97's are nicer. No radio, no AC = lighter, thanks for the input tho, and as for quality control, some people had to return their R's after a month due to oil leaking from the motor. Don't be so quick to answer back. Oh and the 97-98 are Champ White, which makes them ultimately nicer. So put all of the

now i want to be a sales ...
you dont even need to know crap to be one ...
you should have say,
"look at that car .. it is a ACURA, you know the more exotic honda brand, the one where it cost more $ to buy, more refinement, NOW why would I trade in that, for a HONDA ?"
