Default Volk center caps won't stay in tight..... WTF?

How easy should the center caps snap/slide in and out of the wheel? I'm talking about the c/f caps with the two plastic o-rings. Slid mine in and they seem to be able to slide right back out quite easilty. Is that normal or are they doing that just because they're still nice and greased up?

Thanks.

There is a selection of different hub bores to deal with.

This is true. I know for sure that. 15 use a smaller inner hub bore compared to 16's +. I dealt a lot with Mackin's trying to find some for my 15"

and there not off the Time Attacks, special order!

You have to remember that bolt pattern plays into the bore diameter as well (if not more importantly than wheel size).

that is also true and prob more accurate than the wheels size. Due to the stress/load on the particular wheel design...

hope all this helps...

They're Time Attack caps on the HSL wheels.... they're the right ones I'm pretty sure.

They're not super loose but you can defenitely pull them off from the front.

that's one thing that Mackin told me that they shouldn't come off easily from the front, only from the rear. you should get a hold of them and let them know about your situation...

Yea good call.... maybe I'll give them a call.

I looked through the paper that came with the caps and they're noted as CE-28 16"-19" or something like that so they should be the right ones.

it also depends how they were removed
if they had been removed harshly or "bent/damaged" they will not lock back in.

When you guys put them on was there lots of grease on yours? Like gobs of it lol.

I'm pretty sure thats the only reason they're going on/coming off easy.

So yours didn't have any grease on them to help pop them in?

Yea, they defenitely are too small.... they stay in kinda. But you can pull them off from the front quite easily.

Talk to another local Volk wheel owner and his are next to impossible to get off even from the back.

Oh well. They'll be up for sale in a week

lol
yeah that's now they have to fit, really REALLY tight. You should measure the with of the cap and of the wheel bore. I know i will be running into the same situation as you real soon

Bump!

Finally got some new ones today (flat white ones) and are a super tight fit haha.... they're never coming out.

Now I gotta try to dump these other ones locally only so people can test fit them.... wonder what they actually fit into?
