Default hi all, please help. Got 99 Ex civic cpe, want to drop Ls engine in without pain.

I got this car and whoever own previously install 92-95 Ex engine with v-tec got couple plug unplug and leaks oil at the rear main seal. My question is what do I have to get or make changes if I decide to go with the Ls engine. Can I still use the tranny still in the car? I notice that LS obd2 engine harness have 2 ends one end go to the main fuse box which is white color and also with 3-4 plug. On the other end it does come with 3 plugs came from the junction right behind the alternator. 1st plug contain (2) wires blk/yel and Blk/white. 2nd plug have (14wires) can , third plug is not being used. I got the LS engine. Waiting for answer thanks all. Turning wrench is my hobby but swapping honda engine I have never done yet. One more question I noticed the distributor on my civic is not interchange with LS engine.

I heard one of my friend he said that my old tranny will mount onto the LS engine without a problem is that not true? If I was about to use the harness on my EX already in my car which is OBD2 harness. What should I do, what about the distributor since my EX distributor is a V-tec and LS is a non-Vtec both housing are mount are different. Can you elaborate little further which wires should I need to extend. Thanks for the input but I do not want to R&R this engine and being stuck forever because I am down to nothing to drive if I don't finish this project in a 2days weekend. thanks for every thought of the knowledge.

Basically you can't use the transmission bolted to your SOHC on the LS DOHC... not going to work. You want to use the engine harness for your vehicle, and adapt the engine to work with it instead of vice versa. A common wire you need to extend is the IAT (intake air temp sensor), but you will surely notice others because the sensor simply won't reach where it needs to mount to -- simple fix. I believe the housings and alignment are different so you won't be able to reuse your distributor.

Lastly, a word of advice. Because this is your first swap, you will likely need more than 2 days to work the bugs out. Don't count on a single weekend.

do yourself a huge favor and spend some time research the hybrid forum, and also check out the FAQ over there...

this swap and the many like it have been covered probably, literally, 1 million times.

thanks.
