Default ignition timing/ tune ?s

I have a gsr bottom end with 82mm 12:1cr pistons with b16 head, gsr cams, rest of the head is stock. It will be done at the end of this week, and my question is this. I have read that the "JUN" and "mugen" chipped ecus add alot of timing. I have ran my "jun" chipped computer on a few different stock motors and have done fine, but now that im getting into more compression im worried about it being to much until i can get it tuned. Any was i can retard the distributor to compinsate for it? Or should i get my buddy to put a chrome basemap on it? If so which map P30 or P72? Any help is appreciated, trying to learn about this. Thanks

Retarding your distributor timing to 12 deg btdc should be enough until you get the setup tuned. Just run premium 91-93 oct & listen for knocking until you get tuned or get your self a better basemap.

Otherwise, you may want to consider using a basemap from a simular build. Your base ignition timing, engine management system choice & more are major factors to consider when playing with ignition timing.

If your not planning on having the setup tuned, you should consider a wideband oxygen sensor system such as the innovate lc-1 db gauge system & possibly a tunable engine management system such as hondata s300 etc

I will be running 93oct, if i set it to 12 deg btdc, does this mean i need to take it easy? I was really wanting to put some cams in before i got it tuned.

So would i be better off putting a p30 or p72 basemap on, or finding someone with a setup similar and maybe getting their map?

a p30 basemap is for a b16a and you clearly don't have a b16a. A P72 basemap would be a better place to start.
