ok to run gs-r w/ top of airbox lid off?????
ok i know im probably going to get flamed for this but...
my motor is stock and its too damn quiet. so i took the lid (top piece) of the air box off. now its just the intake tube w/ the filter on the end w/ no top piece. i know people have done this before and I KNOW IT DOES NOT GIVE ANY PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGE!!!!! but i like the sound and i dont have the money for intake yet. (suspension first) so any side effects or can harm b done by doin this??? also if its ok to do this should i take the bottom piece off and just let the filter and tube hang??? also its probably in my head but seems like throttle response has improved. thanks for reading the long post

its done all the time and is fine. i would leave the botton on...your gettin some cool air that way. you might see a little bit more response...but its mostly mental from the added noise. but its no prob. maybe get the k&n drop in filter...more breathability(sp) means more performance.

haha i remember back in the day i did that.....its totally safe to do it, only down side is you might get the filter dirty faster
ok so i know the k&n is a "drop-in" filter but will i have to modify it at all??? i thought there was one style k&n that needed to b modified to fit right.
hey thanks man
u notice any difference in power or response w/ the k&n?? i was thinkin maybe a hp or 2

So, with the K&N filter you can definitely expect better throttle response, and better gas mileage...I've been getting about 2 miles more per gallon...therefore, the filter basically pays for itself (over a very long period of time)!
i dont c how this could b true if your runnin the k&n filter. i mean you are pushing more hot air into the motor but the k&n flows better so wouldnt that make up for it??? any thoughts??
Is there a Differenc between LS/RS and the GSR? The site has them different.

how much for the filter and hows the sound?
As for the sound, it's almost as quiet as the stock...although it offers a bit more rumble when you get on the throttle...but really, the difference in sound is minimal. If you're looking for a filter that will give you a cool noise, you're probably better off buying something else.
