EG Half Rad Fitment in EF (PICS)
Hey guys just wondering what options I have to fitting an EG radiator into my EF. I have seen it done before but everyone has it tilted or twisted for hood clearance which looks like ****, (no offense) I want to us this unit in my hatch when I install the turbo build (ls/vtec turbo with SFP log manifold and Turbonetics t3/t4) I want to use this radiator because I have it laying around and i dont think there is enough room to clear the stock EF full radiator. is there a way to custom fab some thing to lower it into the engine bay a little to clear the hood or is it my best bet to get a traction bar right away so the cross member is not in the way? Let me know what you can come up with pics are welcome.
just cut the radiator mounts of the suport and relocate(weld) them on lower so the radiator clears.... works out nice..will look for pics...or the make clamp on brackets if u get a traction bar that makes the whole process painless....bolt it on and go

With tractonbars, the eg rad is still to tall, make mounts lower than the tractionbar, or tilt it like I did, you will not have the most efficient way to cool it but it will work fine.

thanks guys i am going to mock it all up when I get home from school. I will try to post some pics but I am going to cut and weld the mounts to a lower locattion until I install a traction bar
Or just buy that EF Short Radiator. I think Full Race makes it..... Heres the link

EG slanted back, but still got the job done.

I still Slanted sideways the EF shorty. Stood up straight and i had no hood clearance issues, cause i felt like it was to close to the Turbo manifold also i had a huge (inch Wise) Slim Fan on the front!

Thanks again guys, this has given me a some help but as the title say I so not want to twist or lean the rad in any way to me it looks ghetto but to each his own. I am going to weld on new tabs at a lower spot thanks a lot but first I am going to try and keep my full rad in.
well heres my EF hatch. with my h22a1 with innovative mounts. also with etd racing traction bar. heres my half rad set up from an EG

What we did is just welded the tabs on my traction bar. I really dont care if it doesnt look good on the bottom lol. no one is going to look down there so it dont matter lol. I'm glad out it turned out though. Let me know! Hope this gives you an idea!
Sorry for the stickers under the hood. I bought the car like this. the swap is almost done lol

there are alot of traction bars for the Ef that fit a eg half rad.
I personally have one of the old place racing bars and an eg raditator sitting straight up.
i havent lookied into traction bars lately but I know there are quite a few out there that sit low enough and come with tabs for the eg radiator.

Innovative Mounts makes a great traction bar.

I personally have one in my EF. I have a half-size radiator in mine. It cools fine, sits perfectly straight, and it gave me a butload of room for my huge 3" downpipe. Here are some pics.

yes it would, and yes it does. I wonder sometimes how many oil pans and gaskets that thing has saved me. A blessing in disguise I guess...
