This is so I can end up making a trim differences thread for the US 5th gen Civics. So help me help you.

Tell me some differences between different '92-'95 USDM Civic trim levels.

For example, "__ have power windows, while __ and __ have manual windows."

I already have access to the color codes, chassis codes and engine codes (along with transmissions available, and certain specs). So those aren't needed.

Give me some place to start on what accessories and options were different from trim to trim.

well, my 92 dx (hatch) has the black interior, however others tell me that they only have the grey (such as my friends 95 dx coupe). 92-93 have map's on the firewall and 94-95's are on the motor. The z6 v/c on 92-93 is just the "H" logo with honda below and the 94-95's are the "VTEC" labeled ones. All 92's are prewired for vtec regardless of what others say, and that was the only year. ex/si at least had the dash clocks, the dx's didnt, not sure of the lx, vx. One of the hatch models cx or vx didnt have the side moldings. The dx's dont't have a tach or any electric options. ex/si's deff/ have all options and sunroof. I'll post more if i can think of/find anymore.

Just tell me some things that are different. You don't even have to tell me what comes with what. Just tell me some things that are different. I don't even need details.

etc. Stuff like that. I can figure out for sure which trims are different which way (I have to check all the info anyway - I'm not going to trust word of mouth).

 

cx and vx came with non power windows, and no side moulding. cx had no tach while vx came with a tach. vx had no dash clock, neither did cx.

hatches:
si's got everything
dx had nothing
vx had less of nothing
cx had absolutely nothing

sedans:
ex got the good motor and everything
dx got a shitty motor, but everything
dx w/o options had nothing

coupes:
werent offered when the civic showed up in 92, believe they were
trim levels- see sedan

ex/si: 1.6l, larger brakes, rear disks, sunroofs, power steering, a/c, availabe auto. also had painted trim (mirrors, sidemouldings, handles, tag frame,etc) 14: wheels and hub caps. man trans w/ best gearing for accel, came with a tach AND cruise control, hatches had rear wiper

dx: hatch, coupe, sedan, 1.5l, auto came with a/c p/s, manual you might have had a/c but chances are you got nothing, no power nothing, no sunroof. no extra paint 13' steel wheels, no hubcaps. radio was optional in some IIRC. shitty gearing. no tach, no cruise, but did have rear wiper

cx.. hatch, didn't even have a pass side mirror, the dealer laughed if you wanted a/c or a radio. shitty trans was geared to the moon. 8 valve motor, weak IIRC didn't have sidemouldings either did have a tach with "mpg optimizing shift light" shitty pleather interior

vx.. hatch, vtec-e, didn't have ****, dont think it had sidemouldings either, rear diffuser, stylish lightweight 13" wheels IIRC had a tach

all i can remember off the top
but IN ALL seriousness... most everythin was an option back then... and some of them were packaged options so your list is gonna be more like a rubix cube. these are the basics that everyone cared about

I own a 95 Si hatch and they didn't come with every option however they did have most options and more than any other hatches it ghas a tach as well as power moonroof and mirrors but as far as I know all hatches including the Si got manual locks and windows oh and I don't think all hatches had rear speakers but mine does .. hope that helps

 

also in 92 and 93 the front grills were black but in 94 and 95 the 2 smaller side grills came painted from the factory

I try to go all out if I'm going to make a thread to help out. It's just easier if all factory options are all in one place.

Eventually I'll do the same for del Sols, but I think that's going to be (1) easier (fewer options) and (2) helpful to a smaller group of people. Might as well get the 5th gens done first. 6th gens were easy since I'm familiar with them. I still want to add a few more things to the 6th gen chart.

Hmm... that's odd. I'll have to check on that but it could be difficult to confirm now since so many cars have been repainted. The bumpers didn't come prepainted from the factory if ordered separate from the car IIRC.

 

CX/VX/DX (hatch) didn't have rear speakers like the SI

 

also some didnt come with steering height adjuster im not sure what years... some ones has to know here

 

what else do you need?

-i have rear deck speakers, sunroof, power windows. ex tan interior. came with the optional audio consle.


i know that coupes had the pocket in the door panel like the ek's and hatchbacks did not, hoewever you can easily swap door panels if you want them.

after you get the civic/del sol gens down, you should get all the rest of the cars, 90-97 accords.

92-01 preludes, ef hatches and crx's. da integras, dc integra's. etc.

it would be sick if you can just pop up one of your threads and go through everything just incase someone on here wanted to build a new project.

Different amount of wires for each O2 sensor is something that might be interesting to add. More specifically because most people are under the impression that all CX's have a 1-wire O2 sensor, when the truth is that the California version has a 4-wire (like mine).

 

The VX didn't come standard with a passenger side mirror, either. I'm attempting to trade for a 93 VX and the owner told me it didn't come with a passenger mirror.

Also, the VX has a wideband O2 sensor, but I've heard that's only for non-CA cars. Can anyone confirm?

NO hatches came with power windows in the US. Was it an option for the DX coupe? It was standard on EX coupes.
