problem with getting my key out of the ignition!!!
i have a 95 integra ls. my problem is when i rotate the key back to rtake it out it gets stuck. ive taken the plastic trim off around the steering wheel to see if i can see anything and no luck. the other wierd thing is that when i disconnect my battery the key goes in and out no problem. which leads me to believe that theres some sort of switch in there that releases it. also i dont know if this matters this car was converted from auto to manual. i didnt do the conversion personally but maybe theres some wiring messed or something???? please help i dont want to disconnect my battery everytime i need to turn my car off, lol.
here is what i think is going on the average automatic has a item atttached to the shifter that tells you ignition if it is in park if that switch/sensor does not tell it that it is in park than it does not release the key i would get a manuel or look up some wiring schematics and find out which wires hook up to that switch and cut the end off and splice them together so it thinks you are always in park you might not have to splice the together for the car to think that though and good luck to you let me know what fixs it either way
the wire/item he is referring to is a neutral start switch, which wont let the car start unless it is in park or neutral.
there is a wire for that going to the ignition, it has a lock solenoid that wont turn all the way or release the key if the car is in gear
that is for automatics, now that your car is manual, its different.
on toyotas the wire has 10-14v when it is in park or neutral, and 0.5 or less when it is in gear. so his idea of splicing that wire or one with similar voltage will work.
with my teggy, i just realized i have the opposite problem today lol, i accidentally yanked the key out while it was running haha, it doesnt need a key to run?

ya i fixed my problem, theres two wires running to a little plug on top of the lock cylinder. i just unplugged it. now the key goes in and out with no prob. i also just jumpered my clutch switch wires together in the harness in the center consol, so now i dont need to depress my clutch to start the car, lol. its just temporary though till i actually put the switch in the clutch pedal and run the wires to the harness. thanks for the info!!
