Well my car starting making this chirping noise about 2 weeks ago and a it was coming from 1 of my belts. well, a few days ago my alternator died. I just read on autozone.com that: CAUTION

Over tightening of the alternator drive belt will cause the unit to whine and premature failure of the alternator drive end bearing, the water pump or the engine crankshaft.

. I heard that that the chirping sound could be that my belts were too tight. Do you think this also killed my alternator. Because i am getting a used alternator today and i don't want to make the same mistake the previous owner did.
