Default Radio wont accept code

I had to replace my battery in my 01 GSR and when I did the code that came with the car in the owners manual wont re set the radio. Acura says that this can happen and that the radio just needs replaced. This just sounds like bullshit to me. I bought the car used from an acura dealership about 4 years ago and this is the first time I've had to put the code in. Anyone heard of this happening or any ideas how to fix it.

I have the code. The problem is that it doesnt take. Acura says this sometimes happens and that I have to replace the stereo which sounds bullshit to me.

call another dealer, thats BS. I'd make sure you have the correct radio code as well. Maybe someone changed the stereo to another stock radio and the code is different.

is there any easy way to get to the serial number on the stereo. I saw TI's guide on how to remove it but is there any easier way than removing the whole center console.
