CO2 on wastegates
So I just hooked up my CO2 and i turned it on and I hear it leaking through the wastegates like crazy. If I put my hand up to dump of the wastegate I can feel the air coming out. I am assuming the bottom plunger part is what is leaking on the gate? If so how can I fix it? These are Tial 44MM gates.
I assume you have the co2 hooked up to the top ports, correct?
If so, sounds like the diaphragm has failed. If not, you are using the wrong port

Its cake. Instead of a boost source (intake manifold, compressor housing) to the input of the solenoid, your supplying it about 50psi of co2. So you would have a push-lock line from the regulator of the co2 bottle, up to the solenoid, out of the solenoid more push-lock to the top port of the gate(s). Then run your boost source to the side port of the gate(s).
Chad, check which port of the wastegate(s). If you have that correct either the diaphragm is pinched, or torn. In wich you can replace the diaphragm.

over Hondabond? Hondabond is the stuff, I even put it on a biscuit.

Not to thread jack... Actually this may be beneficial for anyone using co2...
question...
My bottle regulator reads 25,000psi for actual bottle pressure. Then i have a 2nd gauge for line pressure which we currently have set to 50psi.
When i bought the bottle (2.5lb bottle) the gauge obviously read 0, after we had the bottle filled it only read 900psi Does that sound right ?
After 2 dyno sessions and 2 passes, bottle is now at 750psi
At what level should i be concerned with refilling again ? wait till it gets down close to zero ? or will the co2 setup not work as efficiently with lower bottle pressure?
Just curious don't want to be stuck at a track with no co2. So is there a general rule of thumb as to when to refill ?

I can't answer all your questions Jon, but you should refill it around 100-75lbs or so. You want to have a margin of over 50psi and who knows how accurate that gauge is....
On my Co2 tank I have 1,100psi. It is dependant on the source in which the little 2.5lb tank was filled from. Sounds like they were low on their own source.
Sounds like you are using a bit more than average. Most people can get away with a month full of weekends on a 2.5lb tank. Maybe even a bit longer....
Have you charged your system and looked for leaks? The old dish soap in water works pretty good when looking for air leaks....

If anyone is looking for a Less expensive CO2 setup. Go to your local Beer store. I picked up a 5lb DOT bottle for $75 and to refill it(exchange) its $13 and its open all hours of the night!
