Looking to get into the Honda scene. Help a newbie!
Hello! I have been lurking here for a while reading up on topics and lusting over all the beautiful vehicles. I think I am now ready to get into the deal with an EF.
Here is my situation;
A good friend of mine swapped his 98' LS automatic with a ITR B18c5. He has offered to give me his LS motor (81,000 miles) for free. I want to go LS/Vtec I believe in a CRX or EF or some sort. I have a couple of CRX rolling chassis for sale in my area with no rust for anywhere from $650 to $1100. I am looking to stay all motor and have an all around decent DD. I am not looking to build the head or block beyond preventitave replacements. B18C1 head should do fine(from what I have read)
I have read up on what is needed for the swap and I'm looking for some experienced assistance.
Here is a list of parts needed I have found online for the LS/Vtec
·DOHC VTEC B-series cylinder head complete with valve cover, intake manifold, VTEC solenoid assembly and internals
· VTEC ECU
· VTEC B-series distributor
· '90-'01 Integra LS head gasket
· '94-'01 Integra GS-R head bolts (also Type R, del Sol DOHC VTEC and Civic Si)
· '94-'01 Integra GS-R water pump (also Type R, del Sol DOHC VTEC and Civic Si)
· '94-'01 Integra GS-R timing belt (also Type R)
· '94-'01 Integra GS-R knock sensor (also Type R, del Sol DOHC VTEC and Civic Si)
+ All taps and hosing.
As far as transmission and ecu I am stuck. I figure Hondata 100 will do and a GSR 5-speed should work. What else is needed?
What problems should I expect? Is this list complete? Any other hints or tips I may need?
Thanks H-T!

hondata s100 is a little bit pricey for what it is... i'd look into other alternatives.... evans-tuning.com has alot of good dynos and set ups so you can see what kind of power you can make.
also, you should upgrade to a set of ARP head studs... not 100% necessary but a nice piece of insurance.
as far as a trans... a type-r hydro trans is definitely the most desirable... but if you're willing to put a little bit of elbow grease into it you can piece together your own most desirable trans (taking gears from different trannys and making your own 1-5 and FD). Definitely invest in getting either a trans with and lsd in it or an aftermarket lsd... its well worth it.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1676914 that link should provide you with whatever missing pieces you're looking for. G/l on your first build.
