Default 2003 Pilot Knocking Noise

A friend emailed me with a problem he is experiencing and the dealership cannot find the problem. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

I begin hearing the noise at about 40 MPH and 1800 RPMs when accelerating. It is a steady knocking noise until I take my foot off of the accelerator and the knocking stops. I do not notice it above 60 MPH but the road noise may be drowning it out. The dealer's service techs can not determine the cause. Has anyone experienced this?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Possibly an inner cv joint going bad? Does he get any vibration through the steering wheel?

Thanks. The dealer techs claim to have inspected the CVs and said they were in spec. I have not driven it or looked at it (lives 2k miles away). Still looking
