d16y7 and d16y8 block, putting a motor together
i have a stock d16y8 but it blew up. if i get a d16y7 block and slap on the d16y8 head, will run the same as a d16y8?
whats the difference between the 2 blocks? will this be able to run safely like stock? can i use any d16 block and make it run safely and reliable as my old d16y8? i just need a quick correct answer. thanks

I was wondering the same thing. I'm just about to do the Y7 block/Y8 head mini me. I had the Y8 head resurfaced, valve seats ground, new guides put in and I bought new valves. (A bit expensive, but I'm learning how to do this stuff so it's gold to me!) Slugbug, did you finish it? How did it go? Can you offer any advice or things to be aware of before I go at it? Heh heh...I couldn't get the crank pulley bolt off, so while waiting for the holder tool to arrive, I had a chance to rethink my life : )
