Keep in mind that changing the wheel size also changes the speedometer a little bit. For example, my del Sol S came with 13" wheels and now I have 14's, so the speedo says I'm going a few MPH faster than I really am. That would also factor into your mileage estimates.

you need to get your tach calibrated then ... it should not change it that much.

They don't really, aside from weight factors. If you're changing wheel sizes the proper way, you should be downsizing the width of the sidewall of the tire in opposing correlation with the increase of the wheel diameter. Are you talking about overall tire diameter in comparison to OEM diameter?

I think I read somewhere that wider tires cause more friciton because of a bigger patch of tire on the ground, causing more drag.

Exactly. You need to worry more about tire width than wheel size.

With my 15"Konig Heliums with 205/50/15 Falken Azenis inflated to 40psi all around, I get like 23mpg.

With my weird steelie setup (14" steelies with 185/60/14 generics and 1 13" steelie in the rear with I don't even know what size, but its skinny as [freak]) I get around 28mpg.

Weight does make a difference too, but with the Azenis on these wheels, they weigh about the same as the 14" steelies
