Default OT: drum brake tech + ebrake problems..

first of all, yes this probably should be in tech, but the forums other then this one dont really give a rats *** anyway about brakes, and more people in this board would have experience with brakes so im sorry if im wasting the bw, if its a prob just move it to its correct place and let me know.anyways...

ive grown tired of this problem.around 2 years ago almost i had my drum shoes replaced by a family friend at his shop for cheap. the ebrakes worked fine after he worked on them (before my ebrake handle had to be raised friggin so high to work)..so he changed the shoes and took care of that. being the fool i am i didnt ask exactly what he did.

today i replaced my shoes again on my own.the brakes work perfect.wow..what a big difference even new shoes makes. bites awesome. i adjusted them and everything to correct specs. everything isntalled right and correctly, everything.

i figured the bad ebrake problem was due to my shitty worn out pads but it still persist today. so i adjusted the 12mm nut under the console part that covers the ebrake handle..it made the handle go up and lock in the correct position where i stopped adjusting it at, but..the ebrake seems to grab even less. i dont get it i figured tightening up the cable right there would fix the prob but i guess not.

my shitty haynes doesnt really cover this particular problem clearly ( yes yes "get a helms"..i know). but can anyone tell me what the hell is going on. when i pull the ebrake those bitch *** shoes shoudl expand against the drum..it did when the drum was off (when i checked to make sure all the mechanisms were working properly). but i guess its not..can someone help me out? TIA

btw..i did the stop and go in reverse trick to aid in the adjusting of the self adjusters so they could adjust themselves

...knowing I'm not going to be much help...

Are you SURE that the back brakes are adjusted properly? If the ebrake cable is tight (adjusted correctly), then the problem would seem to be with the brakes themselves.

a really stupid question, but you didn't do any of the brake installation with the ebrake pulled did you?
