i have a jdm b16a2 in my 91 crx si i like it but would like to go with a gsr soon. b20 is another popular swap into a crx. really depends on what type of driving you want to do. From what i hear if you were thinking of an itr you might aswell just go with the gsr i hear it has better tq curve than the itr and is only a cam swap away from making itr hp. but thats just what i heard not sure if its true i would like to hear some people's opinion on this weather its true or false

88 hf lightest crx 1800 lbs. = 40 miles /gal aleast
gas price = 3.60 for 87 octane AND STILL GOING UP!!
I'd keep the stock motor

i'd keep that hf motor and tranny around and maybe a mild build up. when gas is $10 a gallon, you'll want it. meanwhile, i'd put a b18c gsr motor in there because it's badazz...end of story

b20 blocks are weak so thats totally out of the question.... why wouldnt someone just get a b18 block and bore it out 4 over and make a b20? i dont have the stock motor... i bought the car with a seized zc in it for 500$ so im leaning toward a b16a cuz they love high rpm's

well if you go b16, just make sure you like the exhaust note...you're going to hear a lot of it. trust me dude...i know from experience!!
b18 LS might be a good way to go, more low end torque. you can always put the vtec head on in the future and have the best of both worlds.

If you can, go type R. Better head, better pistons, better crank.

The gsr is nice with the itr cam but i'd still choose itr, if you have the money that is... You also can't complain about the lsd that comes with the itr swap. On passwordjdm the engine swap is $4,000.

Well what do you plan on doing with the car?

Are you kidding me? There's nothing wrong with a B20 engine. It can be run with all kinds of goodies for many years with no problems. They make great power right off of idle to about 6800rpm. I know this cause i have a B20Z in my EK, it goes like hell.

Of coarse, a B16 or B18C are good engines too, i have those in a couple other cars of mine, but for the money=performance, the B20 is one of the best deals out there.....and it is a reliable motor. I don't think it would be my 1st choice if going boost, but for all motor, i have nothing but good things to say about it.

the cost to bore and rebuild a b18 is more than buying a b20 itself which is only $400-$700. as far as the b20 block as being weak. its really not that bad as u think. b18 and b20 are pretty much the same motor, were not made for high reving (max 7500 rpm) anything more, than yes the blocks can fail. even with turbo as long as u keep the rpm within its limits u should be fine.

I'd just go for a D16A6, cheap, common, good MPG. Unless you want some Horse Power to go with that, then i'd go for a B-Series

b18b1.......cheap, plentiful, good torque, decent power on integra so it will be faster on an hf, 35+mpg highway if you drive conservatively, and octane 87

darton wont even touch a b20 block because they cant stand behind their work because they are weak..... there is a flip side to having your b18 block bored out, ya it may cost a little more but you also get bigger maybe forged pistons wich in the long run is way better than stock b20 pistons. im tryin to stick JDM not USDM so there is a place where i live that sells engine packages its called Foreign Motors and the have a b16a cable or hydro trans, ecu and wire harness for 1400 and the GSR set up is 2300 i like the fact that the b16 loves high rpms stock redline 8000 that and its a fairly easy swap. someone told me i should go H22 but i think its too heavy on the front end and i will end up with the snowmobile effect.... gas prices in idaho are still alright 3.37$ A GAL 87 OCT wich is not good but still better than some places. if i had 6 grand a month ago foreign engines was setting the whole front end of a type r it was cut just behing the front seats

You got it all wrong. The B20 has its sleeves installed from the factory differently from other b series blocks, the block is not weaker. Thats the reason that shops don't want to mess with it. The power and torque is very impressive for what it is, and is also under rated.
I have a B16A in one of my crx's, the B20 powered EK civic can waste it, no problem. I can speak without bias, as i own both engines.

no when you take a block to a machine shop they bore out your cylinder holes and re sleeve it with aftermarket sleeves because you can not use the stock sleeves they will be too small.... it really does not matter how the sleeves are put in from the factory cuz they will be taken out anyway if you have it bored. is your b20 boosted?
