Rod Bearing paranoia (sp?)
Hi, I built an LS-Vtec engine in December and so far I put about 3k miles on it. When I built the engine, I didnt replace the rod bearings because I thought it was safe to leave the old ones on, since they only had about 88k miles on them. Now im pretty paranoid because people are telling me im going to spin the rod now
Also I just got the car tuned and have ITR cams in it with b16 valve train, i believe it is from the older b16s in japan, and the person who tuned my car raised the rev limit to 8400, is this safe?
Thanks in advance

i would be more concerned about your rod bolts at 8400 rpms than your bearings. why wouldnt you replace your bearings? bearings are not expensive and well worth the money not to mention the piece of mind. i personally would have just put new springs, retainers and keepers in the head maybe valves too if they were really bad. idunnno man

did you look at the bearings when you rebuilt it?

to me bearings are a one time squishing deal this is why i bore gage everything 3 times over...i would disassemble that thing before more harm is done then good
i do not want to in any way come off as a jackass i just hate seeing peoples precious builds deteriorate...especially built ls/v's
