How to: Install an Ek armrest into your 88-91 CRX
I'm pretty sure there was another write-up on this sometime ago but the pics were down and as usual the write-ups I see don't help me out enough and I end up improvising the rest anyway so here how I did mine.
I actually installed this armrest about 6 months ago and I'm just getting around to posting pics. I know other guys have put these Ek armrest in there Rexs and the first time I saw a pic of it I was sold on the idea! It has sooo much room in the armrest storage compared to my EG armrest I had not to mention th EK covered the entire area after the shifter console where as the EG unit did not. All and all I am very happy with this install, I do wish it flushed up a little better than it does but you can only tell at angles that nobody ever really looks from anyways. Well here are a few pics of how I did it and what I used:
Bone stock grey Ek Si armrest
Here it is after the first round of cutting, I did a little at a time so I would not over do it.
Here I am cutting further back w/ a Handsaw I bought at a Hobby shop, worked very well.
You can see how far back I had to cut to make it fit

I used Krylon semi flat black to match it to my interior (best color I found)
and here she is after the first coat
These are the only counter sink screws I could find that were the right thread pitch and length, I wish they were phillips but I just could not find any
Here it is installed, I looked for some sort of covers for the screws but found none, I am going to eventually make some sort of cover that will clean it up but I painted the screws black and they don't really stand out that much as is so how knows when I'll get around to hiding them better

And like I said I wish this flushed up better but this is the worst it looks and how many people look at your interior from this angle? either way I'm ok w/ it.

and here is a shot showing how much room is left in back

Well that's pretty much it for the armrest, I know this has been covered before so I probably could have documented better but I figure this is helpful enough? just let me know otherwise

passive seat belts? my brain is drawing a blank? I assume you have a 4door with seatbelts that impede installation of this armrest?

nice job on the cut, it sits more flush then mine.
one thing is the krylon is too rich a black, this company plasti-kote makes a paint that's a 100% match:
once the sun beats on it for a bit it'll blend perfectly anyway.
this was a blue HF center console i painted with that stuff i posted above:
Another fun thing to add is get a license plate screw cover kit from a local auto parts place:
Good to see the EK DIY lives

The paint I used actually matches dead on with my interior, I've used it on a few things with 100% success. I still never got around to finding any covers but I'm probably going to do something a little different when I finally cover the screws. Just had a lot of other projects going so I have not gotten back to this one yet.

looks really good. I did mine about 6 months ago and it works great. only problem I have is my racing seats are to wide and its hard to open the armreast.
Nice write up... I might have to source one of those arm rests from a local junk yard...
Question- besides those two screws you bought to bolt it down from the tray, where else was there bolts/screws used to make it sit tight??

I thought of fabricating a bracket to attach the rear area but the truth is the 2 front screws hold it well enough that there was no need for any more screws. SO I just left it this way and have not had problems in the year I've had in installed.
