5W30 or 10W30 motor oil for low mile CA GS-R???
ok, my 01 gs-r is approaching 9,000 miles. wondering if i should change from 5w30 to 10w30??? the last few days its been 95+ degrees out just wondering if i should stay or would there b an advantage to running 10w30? thanks
depends on how hard you drive the car. If you dont' drive that hard, you can use 5w30. But if you drive or race, you want 10w30 or even 15w50 synthetic mobil1
For 5W30, 5W means oil viscosity at cold temperatures (cold oil), and the 30 means viscosity at high temperatures. So an oil that is 5W30 has the same high thermal viscosity protection as the 10W30. The difference is the oil viscosity at cold oil temperatures.
