I have an 89 crx si and its all over the road, but no junkyard nearby has a civic si. What other civics can i steal the steering system out of? What is the newest civic i can steal it from to prevent me from getting another steering system that wears out in a year.
I like the car but i cant even go 55 in the rain because it tries to fly off the road. I want the steering rack at the very least but would prefer to get the tie rods as well to take less chances. I cant and wont spend 250+$ on a brand new rack.

 

Are you sure its the rack? Have you eliminated other possible causes which are less expensive?

 

yea its got play and pops if u turn the wheel from all the way one direction to all the way another. and the other components feel strong.

 

My rack is shot too but they can be rebuilt for cheap!!

You should check your inner and outer tie rods!

Hmm, mine does that too. I was told to check the radius control arm bushings, still haven't had a chance yet.
