Default b20/b16 Highend laagggggg

i have a 95 gsr with a b20 block & b16 head, And down low lots of torque, but in vtec its really not pulling how it should, Ive raced si's and pulled by 3 lengths at the start then had them almost pass me, its not the way i shift, i often take it to 8k when i race, people are telling me its because i need headers & intake mani, both are b16 as of now think it would be improve alot with headers/intake manifold ? any other suggestions ?

a properly built b20/b16 combo pulls all the way to redline.

are you running the stock compression? high end power is laced with high compression and the B20 block doesnt have either (unless built)

no a b16 head has a better top end.....better for the b20 setup

not necessarily true. a B16 is better with higher lift cams, especially if its if its ported and polished. take a look here

I'm having the same problem. I have a jdm b20b/b17. b16a and b17 shared the same head, just different cams. My car's absolutely a dog at high end, but it might be my LS tranny or it might the PS, AC, and ABS.

a vtec tranny is a must when dealing with fully built all motor setup. the ls tranny's longer gears will take longer for ur engine to reach the higher rpms where the vtec head shines.

the PS, AC, and ABS shouldn't have that much effect on your top end.

nothing bad could happen...but it would be wise to rectify the problem first before adding different upgrades.

yes but more with tuning. give importbuilders a call and explain the situation, theyll give you a price.

try to get rid of the stock header first. that's really choking ur setup right now.

oh c'mon! You're telling him the solution to the problem is getting a header or a new tranny? The problem is your fuel curve is way off. You need to go to the dyno!
