If you don't plan to do any moding/cutting/spacing, you need a speaker that is 6.25(6 1/4) on the OUTER dimensions and the speakers can not be taller than 2 1/4" tall.
I know most place will say the stock speaker is 6.5" but they are wrong. If you put a 6.5" speaker it won't fit without you hacking into the panel.
If you are buying the speakers online, I would try to download the manual and read the actual dimensions of the speakers and how tall it is.
The good news is that some 6.5" speakers are actually smaller and have a mounting part to be only 6.25". So do you research before you buy it if you don't want any headacks with installing it.
Don't believe me? Here is a post that I made on another board with a different name.

I just bought the Diamond Audio S600s. It is a pretty high end speakers but it fits the stock locations. It should be here tomorrow.
