Default Timing Belt change: How do I reach some of those bolts?

Hi,
I have a 97 Civic EX Coupe and was getting ready to change the timing belt today when I ran into some problems...is there an easy way to loosen the AC idler pulley (I think that's what it's called)? I can't fit a socket back there cause it's too tight of a space and I used a wrench but I kinda rounded the bolt because it's on kinda tight. Second, any way you can remove the second upper timing belt cover bolt (one closest to the firewall)? I can't fit a socket or a wrench back there either, my hands are kinda big and it's tough. Last, you do have to set the #1 piston to TDC before you take off the crankshaft pulley bolt and pulley itself right? Then check it again before you install the new belt? I got a Helm's manual but I wasn't too sure about this one...is there an easy way to set the piston there with clear instructions? Thanks.
