Default Cleaning headlights

Okay I did a search and a bunch came up but not exactly what I had in mind. Okay well back to the subject. I have JDM type-r headlights that has been on the car for years and has not been properly taken care of from the previous owner and now it seems that the clear coat (correct me please if I'm wrong) or whatever it is, is peeling off. Now my question is can I some how clean it to make it look almost new again since the show is coming up soon and I don't have money to buy new ones. Can I sand down the headlights and polish it out or what should I do to clean it off?

TIA- Aaron

Sand them and polish them.

The G2 guys do this all the time for their JDM headlights.

Can this stuff be used on the US headlights too? Mine look kind of grungy, especially if I park next to a newer Integra with low miles on it for comparison...

wash them (I wash my car atleast once a week).

you can coat them with something like RainX.

polish when needed (less is more)!
