BAD paint day RANT! and- How should i fix it?
(RANT)
This nightmare started weeks ago... i have waited all winter to get some "nice days" to do my rims white.
the weather was getting into the 60's, i had got my sand/prep supplies, the street-sweepers had picked up the sand off the streets!
3 days of "70's" were forecast (then rain), so i wanted to tackle my "Paint those rims!" project...
after 2 days of sanding, prep, and taping off the motegi's, i picked up the white rust stopper-metal primer. and tried to find taffetta white paint. (Good Luck! -i ended up going to places before i found some guys that could whip up a batch)
i usually stay up all nights because i work overnights, and get home around 11am...
only 1 day left, 11 am- 74 degrees and perfect out (light breeze- clear sky- no smog or pollen!) -there were kids out and playing, and someone flying a model airplane. just a perfect day! so i couldn't sleep, i had to get these done- last day before rain!
i went out on the upstairs patio, prepped, covered things, and sprayed the light coat of this anti-rust primer on the first wheel, and started on the second wheel at about 1pm...
went back to the first wheel, started the light second coat... and noticed a bunch of small leaves and dust settling onto it?
i look up over our balcony, and that model airplane someone was flying... it was actually a tiny leaf blower "-DOH!-"
and puffs of dust clouds were floating right up and landing in my primer. "-DOH!, DOH!-"
being the last day on the forecast before 7 days of rain, i was livid! i threw my crap in the house, threw a tarp over the mess and here it sits... 2 ruined, and needing some serious re-sanding, and 2 still ready for primer.
...but it's 4 days later, and its f-ing Snowing out! where did spring go? with no days over 50' in the next 7 days...
-oh well, i was digging the wheels out, and noticed on the primer back label- it isn't sandable...
"-DOH!, DOH!, DOH!-"
WTF? . this sucks- i'll never get into the "white wheels only" thread at this rate!
(rant over)
(OK, THE PROBLEM)
i have the "UNSANDABLE" primer with crap-leaves stuck in it!
-it reads "DO NOT SAND, WILL LIFT IF SANDED" -so what do i do now?
a) can i take my mineral spirits and just wipe it off the bad parts? or do i have to start all over?
b) can i take "600 grit" wet-sandpaper, and wet-sand it very lightly (or will that even make it lift?)
i'm going back to get "SANDABLE" primer this time- live and learn, READ the fine print!
Thanks for any help you may offer!

my wheels just mock me everytime i come home.... staring at me through the glass

i stripped them down and started over last night
i've been running tires down into the cold-as$ garage... primering and running them back up, to keep them hot enough-
i have my home at 78 degrees , and i'm sweating my **** off in between the sets of stairs... but a good workout!
i think the fumes are getting to me...
time to open the windows and get some SNOW in here!

taken yesterday...
i cant wait 'til summer!

Wow! ...i wouldn't worry about taking off the snow tires yet!ours melted fast- that shot was the day after, it was only about 6 inches total...
melting while snowing/raining...
i was mainly ranting about the summer tease and my experience with the leaf blowers association...
but they are all fixed, its over 60 today,
so i'm in between stages- they are coming along nicely!...can i have one of your CRX's now...
i love crx's!
too bad i cant get one of these...

mine is actually the negative-
i'm a civic nut too! ...here's mine- with snow tires on both... for now!
