I haven't posted in a long *** time (besides the recent question about catalytic converters). I still own my ITR and she just past the 100K miles mark (166K km). Almost time for another timing belt change.
Just wondering who else is in the century club with OEM motor.
I'd like to hear from other high mileage ITR's on OEM motor.

wooo cool thread, im at 180km now in my R and still goin very very well.. doesnt use any oil like some of the lower km type r's so thats possibly evidence of some very well maintanence/nana owners.
its tuned on apexi vafc2 with cam gears i/h/e.. just service it really every 4000km and keep it polished. ive got a civic now that i can beat on so its good to share the load now, the R gets more garage time which is good in some ways.
i changed the cambelt at 170 including the cam gears etc, waterpump an the bearings an seals.
i hope to get alot more kms out of the engine before it retires,
the air con tensioner pully just snapped off the a/c pump (bolt snap in half) so yea just goin to rip the whole setup out of the caR.. serioulsy more perky/lively now without having to run that big *** pump

Well, I'm still on the lower end of mileage...
...but I have a friend with a GSR (yes not an R but still amazing) that's rolling onto 170,000 miles. The engine doesn't burn a drop of oil and is the fastest unmolested GSR motor we've ever encountered. It's abnormally fast and efficient. Thing still gets 30+ mpg.

Another? Have you done it once already?
I've got 93k and my car drives like day I got it from the first owner at 23.5k miles. The main difference is the moderate oil consumption, 1.25 qts. of Mobil 1 per 6,000 mile interval and I could probably use a set of Koni adjustables. I've stayed on top of valve adjustments and recently did my timing belt and water pump about 10k ago.

Mine is at 240,000 miles and only thing wrong is cylinder 1 needs new rings.
Got an a accident and the motor now sits. But from driving it. It can go for another 100,+++ miles.

Have you ever tried using Castrol Syntec?? I have found that a few members on here have had problems with Mobil 1 burning off and switched to Castrol Syntec and had no more oil burning issues.

I can't see why it would hurt the settings of the intake and exhaust gears. All you are really doing it insuring the gaps are within a reasonable range.

I've heard that too... I'll try it next change and report back.
I'm relatively smooth on the car in DD situations but I do like to hear it purrrrrr (read: rev) once it's warmed up!

137k miles and counting... no oil consumption/burning.....original everything....(timing belt/wp and associated parts have been changed)
regular oil changes w/ Castrol 10w 30(non synthetic)

126k burns a little oil. not sure how much. stock motor in need of a rebuild soon. trans also in need of a rebuild. body work would also be helpful. New Header is also needed but i is a broke college student.
113,000 miles, originally purchased with 70,000 miles.
I drive the car every day, and I drive it like it's meant to be driven (i.e. Hard). The engine burns oil, but that's to be expected.
Engine's about to be rebuilt in preparation for EXPO, however.

97R 116k miles, bought it when it's 95k
So far I had put 20k in 3 years of ownership.
Replaced New Radiator, PCV Valve and that's it!!..
Castro GTX owner here and I change it every 2500miles. (99cents a quart, why not?)
Found out my alternator belt starts cracking so I might just replace the water pump, timing belt, removing the p.s, and put new cam gears in.
Clutch is almost done too, inshaft bearing and throwout bearing needs to be replaced as well. O2 sensor failed too.

my oem stock clutch lasted 170km with a bit more on it!!
using Valvoline Durablend 10w 40 semi synthetic, got rated very very well against some of the best oils around, and its well priced, used this oil in all the vehicles when i was a mechanic part time with uni..really good oil so far, no burn

im at 125k, bought at 60k and doubled milage, original engine (no oil burn put 186whp on all stock internals) and trans (no grinds either), but does whine just a tad so i will rebuild it eventually
still drives like new
still drives like new
Got 01-0188 at 43k, now has 137k. Stock powertrain. Used to burn 1 qt Mobil 1 every 3k miles (just like my old GSR and current S2K), now about double that. Other than a bit of smoke on the big cam, engine still sounds and runs perfect. Except for oil consumption issues, the B18C5 is an engineering masterpiece. If it wasn't such stupid fun, it would belong in a museum !

Yes. When you live in a climate that has temperature swings deep into freezing, it is recommended that the timing belt gets changed every 100K kms (62K miles). The first time I changed it was at 90K kms, I'll probably change it again this fall (should be at 180K kms by then).
I used to hardly ever drive my car during the weekdays as I've always lived within walking distance to work. But with the new job, it's 600 km/week
