Your stock exhaust is near that size. Removing the cat (Al Gore is screaming right now) and going to more like a 2.75 will do far more. As for your whp goal, every engine is different- you might or might not hit that.

Just keep in mind that the piggyback computer with the kit is set up for a stock y8. Any modifications you make like a bigger exhaust will throw off the settings a bit. Whenever going turbo I have seen that it's best to get it tuned properly after install for what you actually have on the car and not what the computer will assume you have. More power and better reliability that way. I've seen good things with that kit so let us know how it comes out.

Although i agree with the first part of your statement, i haven't ever understood why people are so gung-ho about Full Race. There are many other fab companies who sell products that are of the same quality as Full Race with a lower sticker price.
To the OP: If you dont have to worry about emissions or CARB garbage, building your own turbo setup is the best way to go. The Edelbrock kit is terribly overpriced for what you get UNLESS you need live in a state like California where you need a certain kit to pass CARB and emissions...

You dont live in ca, so buy your own turbo components. That way you can spend money where you want to. You'll end up with a more powerful and cheaper set-up. precision turbo components are my favorite
im also looking at the greddy kit... if i was to get this kit would i have to get a new computer and have it tuned or does the greddy kit come pretuned?
i feel as if i was to part one myself i wouldt get the wrong parts or somethin and wouldnt b interchangeable with others thats y i like the complete kits.. does any1 kno of a goodf website with good reliable turbo kits like the edelbrock or greddy?
you obviously like the kt idea alot. Just do it. Honestly the edelbrock kit is not bad at all. Garrett turbine, edelbrock intake manifolds are among the best. it's all good, if you dont mind spending a few extra bucks for a complete kit.
yeh man .... i figured a stock d16y8 realli cant handle that much more boost and i kno edelbrock is a realli good company... has any1 used one on here?
and like i said b4 the onli other thing i would add is a 2.75 inch exhaust and possibly takin the cat out or puttin a high flow cat in .. so my question is would the exhaust upgrade make a noticeable difference in HP gain or would it be a waste of money ?

power! power! power!.. i see your looking at making as much power as possible out of the bolt on kit, but if i was you i would make sure you can "put down" the power you have.. do you have a good clutch? lsd? good tires? suspension? dont get me wrong i want 500 horsepower to, but until a sohc on low boost walks on me because i cant keep traction, therefore making all my time and effort for nothing. i wouldnt do it.
yet..
yet..
well i got a set of rota slipstreams and i am waiting to put a suspension of after i put the kito n cuz i dont kno exactly how low it can go wit the intercooler piping...and with the edelbrock kit the car should be makin like 185 to the wheels so i dont even think ill need a suspension set up. and i jus have a stock 1999 honda civic ex tranny thats about it... ill b satisified with the 185 whp

we'll see i guess.. atleast get sum BFG Drag Radialds, & Drag springs..
185 to the wheels is aceptable for a street car so yes, you should be happy..

i kno the edelbrock turbo kit comes pretuned for 7 psi and is internally wastegated so if i was to get a boost controller would i b able to boost like 10 psi on the pretuned computer or no ?
any1 about my last question?
and also the instructions say that i should after the installation and use a 3 degree colder plug than stock .. my question is is that realli necessary to use 91 and change the plugs?
