Hom much lbs I loose with straight axle??
HI,
I would like buy straigt axles to CRX 88-91 and can you explain me :
This is it the ultimate in straight axles for your Honda Civic and Acura Integra. Save almost 100 lbs and takes no time at all to install
am I saving almost 100 lbs by changing stock weld for skinnes or just by instaling straigh axle without skinnies??

Thank for reply

You only save around 80lbs or so and you have to use the straight axle and the skinnies.
Can't use stock wheels with straight axles. They use a spindle mount wheel. (One large nut)

I have skinnies 4x100 now and my car weight 1700LBS and If I use the straight axles with spindle mount wheel I loose 80lbs???
Your car is pretty light already....street car? If so don't plan it being like that if you get this kit.
Correct, if you use the straight axle and the spindle mount wheel, you loose 80lbs or so. Can't use your 4X100 wheels anymore since there's no studs to use them on.
Rota is right, heard a few things about mounting your shocks back to stock location. Again nothing first hand though.

I've read the post in the past about fitment issues with the kcc straight axle, but they were from 2yrs ago. Does anybody know if the problems were fixed or if the problems were with every chassi? I know user Jamaican Dave uses kens piece on his ek civic was wondering if they were any fitment issues.
what i dont understand is how they get this magical 80lb weight reduction. if i remember right i yanked out my whole rear control arms and stuff and total it didnt weigh 100lbs. are you telling me that the straight axle, wheels, etc weigh only 20lbs? thats not including tires apparently. shocks need to be thrown out as a weigh reduction too cause you reuse them..
i dunno. the oem trailing arms/ and either drum or disc brakes are definitly much heavier than the chromoly tubing used in building the straight axle. imo, probably the wheel tire package is a close second to the chromoly VS. oem trailing arms. i dont think there is but a "maybe 2 lbs" savings from the calipers. i know these rotors for the spindle mounts are heavy, or at least the ones i have seem heavy.
I know the calipers and rotors for our Strange spindles were very light. I would almost say the spindles alone weight weigh = to coilovers with springs.
They sat here on the floor for a while in Feb, you would have thought I would have weighted them. DUH.

Damn Dave, you beat me to it, ya the old MB straight axles were 4x100. unfortuneately it was already on the car when i bought it, so i dont know the weight differences. but the pice is pretty light. im guessing most of the weight loss is in getting rid of the trailing arms, and all the substructure.
i have the kens kustoms solid axle and from my muscular arms i can tell that theres a big difference
with front on jackstans, i can lift my rear end all by myself and thats with tires and brakes and all
i have a hard time on my friends car
its on an eg hatch
as for fitment, for some reason, mine sit a little further forward and i cant really slam it unless i cut off a chunk off of the frame rail on both sides

what struts can i swap for?
and what do you have in front? any pics?
i see you parting out, how much you want for the rears? PM me
