car slows down while in gear. help please!
hi guys, i have a gsr block with a b16 head and tranny. everything is stock. i was driving up a freeway ramp at 35 mph in 4th gear. out of nowhere my car gets pulled back. it feels as if im down shifting to slow down. keep in mind im still gasing, but my car gets pulled back and now im going 20 mph up the ramp. when im driving in the street its normal everything works fine, my tranny does not grind or pop out. do you guys have any idea whats the problem is? is it my motor or tranny? please help me out. thanks!
i just took my car to test drive it. i was going down the ramp this time at 35 in 4th gear. my car gets pulled back again. the rpm drops to 2k. i down shifted to 3rd to speed up and i get pulled back some more. so i down shifted to 2nd and it just sucked me back even more. i pulled over then drove again and it went back to normal.

im driving up the ramp @35 in 4th gear and all a sudden my car gets pulled back. it feels like i down shifted to slow down, but i didnt. i have to down shift to third to pull up. when i down shift to third it feels normal.
i guess the problem is when im driving up a slope in 4th gear it gets pulled back. but im still gasing in 4th.

yeah.. you probably just need to downshift to get up ther hill @ 35mph. meh, idk ill try it out and let you know.
hahah thanks my fellow THC family
i honestly think something is wrong cause the ramp isnt steep and im not slowing down, im getting pulled back...i feel the power thats pulling me back. hahah kinda weird.

What are your RPM's when this is happening? If you're down near 2,000rpm.... learn how to drive standard and DOWNSHIFT to go up that ramp.

x2..
If it isnt that make sure your wheels spin somewhat freely, you could have a sticking brake caliper..

A clogged fuel filter can cause this. Also if you have low octane fuel, the knock sensor can cause the timing to be retarded when the engine is under load at low RPM. You should be able to drive uphill at 35 MPH in 4th gears, especially with a B16 transmission.

ok, ill check out my fuel filter. im running 91 octane w/ no knock sensor and my ecu is program for it. thanks for helping
i know its not my driving thats making this happen. i can drive up this ramp at 30mph in 5th gear and ill get up just fine. something is wrong with my car and the "pulling back junk"...im just describing how it is so its easier for you guys to understand.

Yeah, I drive up a steep *** hill at 35 in 4th gear with 3 other people in my car simultaneously with NO problems lol.
I have had problems like this before in several of my Hondas, and one of them was the fuel filter (which is a pretty solid cut out of power) or then another problem I had once was ignition problems (can be caused by plugs, wires, cap/rotor...) but this feels like a "jittery" but serious loss of power and it can still dump the car on its nose, but the jitter is really the distinction between the two.
When your car is under load going up a ramp its demand for fuel increases, and so either its leaning out a lot because there's not enough fuel getting through the filter (most likely cause) or your spark is too weak to light the fire under load. Easy fix at least.
