Default 2004 civic SI

About to buy one, does it run on regular unleaded or does it require premium?
I searched here and other sites but could not find that info.
Thanks

you can use 87 but people confirmed with a higher octane, the car will run better

I use plus, but really unleaded would be fine. Its not going to hurt your car.

Do you not have the owners manual for the car?

You only need 87 for USDM EP3s. Period.

87 for the K20A3 in Ep3 si. Only K20A2(RSX Type-S) needs premium due to higher compression ratio.

haha... That post he referred to is one I started

Right now I am running regular in my EP3 and it seems to run fine. Every once in a while it seems to hesitate at full throttle about 4500 RPMS. I dunno what the deal is. I haven't checked to see if it doesn't do it when I am running premium.

I think you should be fine. It only runs like 9.8 to 1 compression.

Thank you for all the info, now I know for sure. No I do not have the manual because I have not bought the car yet and have not seen it.

Are you saying better on 91 than 93? Or 91 than 87?

The engine is tuned to run on 87. You only need premium if using forced induction.
