Default melt down after 40 miles??

So my track motor melted down after only 40 miles on the track. This was Gils motor i bought from him and tuned with a s300 on the dyno and had pulled out a massive amount of timing from the Gil map to make it reliable.
There is no sign of detonation on any other cyl or plug just this one.
So wtf?

You said you pulled lots of timing to make it more reliable, from Gils previous map....what data did you use to decide this? If that was the only cylinder that sustained damage, I'd think clogged injector. Have all of them flow tested....just to rule that out.

See this scares me a bit...I just started my freshly rebuilt track motor.....I hope I have no isses.

Like other already mentioned, "no sign of detonation on any other cyl or plug just this one" usually means that perticular injector suddently decided to give up and starved that cylinder.

My first though would be a bad/clogged injector.

Is there any warning signs to tell if or when an injector might clog like this? Can this happen to any motor? Seeing that kinda scares me.

man rene that really is a bummer, watching that head (which for the recorde looks good for reuse) come off and see that piston really put a on my face.
like the others have said this is very likely a faulty injector should get them tested before you use them again. if you need any help working on it let me know!

this is Kevin's friend Cassio by the way.

Sell those injectors and get better ones or get them cleaned professionally.

What did the plugs look like ?
What fuel were you running ?
Did you move the distributor after the car was tuned ?
Did you monitor the air fuel ratios with a wideband ?

Swapping a motor & ecu from one vehicle to another doesn't exactly mean that the tune isn't going to change. Voltage & other variances do exist between cars which will throw your tune off.

If brand new, can the manufacturer be faulted?

From my experience, all manufacturers always find a way to weasel their way out of paying for anything. Claiming there products come with no implied warranty. Weak.
