can the thrust bearing washer fall out?
I have a d15b7 complete block minus head in my garage. someone is coming to buy it tomorrow. every once in a while I spray the cyl walls w/ wd40 and spin the crank a few times to keep it from getting too dry & starting to rust.
Well I was just spinning the crank last night and I heard a "clink" from the bottom of the motor. Is there any way that could have been a thrust bearing/washer falling out? Can they some loose & fall out from spinning the motor the wrong way? I was turning the crank in both directions.
I can't think of anything else that would have make a "clink" noise from the bottom of the motor.

unless they were installed backwards which I have seen, I removed a oil pan on a running motor with crank in and out play when you push and pull on the ecrank pully.
it had 1 of the thrust bearing in the pan (in the shape of a U) and the other paper thin, even the girtle was damaged where the thrust washers are susposed to be kept from spining
