Default EP3 Konis...

I have posted a topic about this before I am about to have the money to get some new struts for my car. I am looking into something adjustable (since I am putting mioney into it any) and I don't know what brand to get. I don't wanna spend the large amounts of money for the TEIN or Buddy Club set up although I would love to have them. I was looking into the Koni Yellows or Tokico D Spec...

Any reviews or opinions would be awesome.

ORRRRRRRRRRRRR.......

Should I keep saving my pennies for the TEINs or Buddy Club?

for the price of dspecs (560ish) and a set of coilvers (300ish) to go with them,

your not to far off from purchasing a set of full coilovers that would save you the

headache, time and hassle of a piece together kit.

pick up some buddyclubs, function forms, progress or teins or something else that is complete.

Your suspension is only as good as your shocks, and those inexpensive coilovers have really, really crappy shock valving.

For the same price as a bottom-line coilover, you can have Koni shocks and quality lowering springs (like Teins) and outhandle anyone on Tein Basics, Megans, etc.

Well I have some B-G suspension springs that drop it like 1.5 inchs. They aren't top of the line but I wouldn't say they are the worse either.

So you are saying sticking with the Konis and some good springs would be a good combo?

I dunno if I need to raise and lower my car so I think just lowering springs should be fine. And I will be able to adjust the Konis dampening too.

Coilovers are overrated on the RSX/EP3 chassis because anytime you even slightly modify ride height your alignment goes to hell. And regardless of what folks think they will do, no one screws with ride height that much.

A good spring/shock is a great setup. The reason I push Tein springs so much is because they are the perfect springrate combo for these cars to make a great handling daily driver.

Ok. I don't actually know the springrate on my B-Gs. I bought them because I can get them through NAPA (where I work). I can also get Eibach and Neuspeed and Suspension Techniques.

One reason why I don't wanna get coilovers because I know I will never change my ride height. I have no reason too.

I will look into the Teins. My friend is getting some for his WRX.

I wouldn't say everyone...I have Tein basics and I have the fronts maxed, and I still couldnt ask for a better ride. Only problem ep's normally run into or that I've heard is rubbing I have mine. Lowered probably 2.5 inches maybe more?

i got tein basics and it sounds like a coffin opening and closing every time i touch the wheel.

Good coils and struts will do better than bottom end coil overs if u ask me.

Do you have anything to compare this to? Tein Basics have crappy shock valving--there is no getting around this. A good ride does not mean a good shock.

LOL my last post didnt exactly come out right. I have tein basics and the ride like a dream, I'll compare them to a freind's ep, he has koni yellows and skunk2 springs and it rides like junk, it bottoms out on everything and rubs the crap out of the fenders on any kind of turn. My tein's have none of those probelms. Tein ftw

Dont follow trends from people that know nothing about suspensions and only talk about what they read somewhere else.

Go with the Koni's and good springs that closely match the shocks.

Not on this list? Almost certainly crap.

The new sport compact car has a pretty good test on suspension. Although they are kind of testing the suspension companies setup techniques in a way also it provides some good info.

I've been interested in Konis because I have heard a lot of good things about them and see them on a lot of cars that are pretty serious. That to me, means they work.

Whereas I see Skunk2s on every riced out car in town that don't do ****.

For the price the Konis are my first choice cause the Tokicos are only slightly cheaper and I know no one with them to use as a baseline.

Quality control? Is it made by them or relabeled? Anyhow, ever heard of the term: "Jack of all trades, master of none"?

Stick a to shock company that specializes in SHOCKS, I'll bet you they dont sell shift ***** nor cams!

Go with the Konis, or you can go wilder with some Bilsteins like these

I'm not a huge tein man myself. Depending on the drop you want, I'd go with Koni yellows and H&R sport or race springs

I want to get a coilover set that comes ready to install and will improve my daily driver EP3. I do not want to mess with reusing the top mount from the stock units. I want to lower the ride about 1.5-2 inches tops. Any ideas?

You know you really can't go wrong with Mugen Sports Suspension! I loved mine and have done many other EP3/DC5's with them with simular results.

Are they bouncy like other setups are? I do not want my daily driver to bounce all over like a yo-yo or to bust my ***** each time I hit a pot hole.
