Default Hi there, new to Hondas and this forum

About 20 minutes ago I bought an 89 EF hatch, my first Honda. I've never tuned a Honda but I've owned a rather heavily tuned BMW 325 and a Mazda MX-6 Turbo. It'll be nice to not have to search for parts finally, lol. So I figured I'd introduce myself on the forum as I'll probably have lots of questions and junk.

My new ride:
White 89 EF hatch
D16 I think, black valve cover 16 valves
Some ridiculously stiff clutch, feels like a puck clutch
Intake and Exhaust
Neuspeed drop springs
CRX interior ('cept the front seats)

She's just going to be a daily, so no big plans for her. New seats, LOTS of body work, paint, and maybe some fun interior lights. I've only ever built autocross cars so this will be all new stuff to me.

first off.. welcome hope you like it here.. but i like to say one thing before you go infront of some people saying you have a "ef" unless you bought the car from japan, it's not a ef it's a ed look on your vin number

2nd. just look on the front of the engine where the tranny and block meet there is a flat surface usually covered with 30years of oil and dirt.. wipe that off it will tell you , your engine code.. is it a dohc or sohc .

Okay cool that's the sort of thing I need to know, lol. I do believe it's an SOHC. It would say DOHC on it if it were right? I know it didn't say that. I'll have to go actually look. Like I said I've just bought it.

well.. unless you bought a b-series 9 out of 10 it's a sohc, but you still have the odd ball d's out there like the d16a1,a6,a9 zc stuff like that.. but i doubt it would have dohc on it.. lol.. well to tell if you have a dohc look at the top.. if it has 1 hump it's a sohc if it has 2 it's a double.. valve covers in the honda world tell alot about the engine, car, and person..

oh.. for the parts thing.. yea some engines are easy to find parts.. but if you own some kinds it's like searching for a pin in a straw field . just thought i would let you know that too

eh engine parts I'm pretty set on. This thing's pretty strong and only has 140k on it. Looks like the guy did a good job on maintenance. I just mean like blinkers and a new hood and axles and stuff. The old bimmer was absurd with things like that. $600 for one halfshaft and it has to be shipped from Chicago or something cause there's none anywhere around. Oh and interior bits. I had a hell of a time replacing the window buttons for my poor bmw. Hondas are all over the place.
