Will a 2.5" exhaust flange bolt up to a stock cat flange???
I just purchased a new Type-R cat-back exhaust and I will be installing it on my '94 GS-R. The B-pipe needs to be extended ~3" to mount to the stock cat. In the near future (3-9 months) I will be installing either a JDM Type-R 4-1 header or a DC JDM 4-1 header with a 2.5" flange, so I will also be going with a 2.5" hi-flow cat. So I figured will I'm extending the B-pipe I might as well weld on the 2.5" flange. So will a 2.5" exhaust flange bolt up to a stock cat flange?
Here is a picture of a stock cat and 2.5" hi-flow cat (image borrowed from http://www.sandmracing.com ):

D or Aleph, didn't you have a picture on your website which showed the 2.5" exhaust flange welded onto the stock exhaust pipe???

The outer flange is the same, so it'll bolt up.
But the 2.5" hole will be mated up to a stock ITR catback.
That will create a bottleneck. Bottlenecks are always a bad thing.

Are you sure??
When I tried today to bolt up my ITR catback with the stock cat, it did not bolt on at all. Do the years of the ITR catback make a difference?
Btw, I drive a 95 Gsr.
Forgot to mention, I am using a USDM DC 4-2-1 and is there a j-spec type r b-pipe?
