zc to d16a6,wiring issues??/ throwing codes 10,6,9
just bought 88 crx si, had a zc in it but has d16a6 in it currenttly, not sure if problems are related to the swap, ,, my main problems are hard to start when it has been sitting about after 6 or more hours usually take two to three cranks at it to get it goin, and it idles werid for a lil bit.once on the road it boggs a lil in low rpms but wants the gas once it gets over 1700 or so but when i roll up to stops signs or what not it wants to idle high around 2000 or so, i tap on the gas a slight bit real quick and it calms the idle., put a new o2 sensor on it all ready different air intake temp sensor no changes with either, oh yeah running real rich lot of carbon build up on my muffler anything will help thx everyone
not sure what it is how can i id it anything writing some kind of numbering on it i have another ecu not sure what that one is assumeing its for the zc motor i have that has a bent rod in it,,got it part of the package deal with the car
well usually the sohc, dohc zc's run off of the pm7 the a6 runs off of the pm6 look on the side there is a little sticker type thing that says if it's a one of the two.. i bet if it had a zc in it it either has a pm7 or a chipped pm6. it just depends.
but with my dohc zc the revs where kinda high when i first started it up.. but when it heated up it went down to about 1k so.. see what kind of ecu you have first, then check and make sure about your idle , sensors , stuff like that.. cause one falty sensor can throw the whole motor into a loop.

those ecu's are easily interchangeable and are pretty much the same ecu. Look at your codes again and look them up in a manual

i was just implying that the pm6 and pm7 have a different map range on them.. for the higher idle.. and different cam profiles between the two.. i know you can use both of them.. but it's just a thought.
just a question i have.. if they are so similar then why is it better to use a pm7 with the dohc zc then a pm6? that is like saying running a si tranny and a zc tranny are the same.. when the gearing is different.. it doesnt matter, but still they influence the ability of the car/engine in different ways.
For comparing the Si/ZC transmissions, look at the 1-5 gear ratios. The ZC final drive is "longer" while the 2-5 are "shorter" compared to the Si. Cruising down the highway in 5th gear, the RPM are just about the same on the ZC as they were on my Si transmission.
The PM7 and PM6 are different, but its not a big enough difference to really tell. I did a comparison of the two programs when I had the D16A6 in my CRX. At idle and just driving, they are identical. Once you get to 4000RPM or so, the PM7 seems to pull a bit harder. (I was comparing with my friend's EJ8...)
They're so similar though, without being at WOT, you won't notice a difference.

With a zc, when you swap out the E.C.U. you are better able to utilize that motor's powerband and redline capacity. A dual cam zc has a higher limit than the d16a6, and it has different fuel consumption needs, not to mention that many of the zc's parts are the same as the 'tegs. it only makes sense that a e.c.u. programed for a dual cam motor will operate much differently in the zc than a d16a6. Also, the PM7 has the correct ignition and fuel maps for the zc, the PM6 is made for SOHC so wont run as well....nuff said? I got all this info from my bros at the zcr. Chech it out!
