Default Do these things actually work...or purely cosmetic?

Found them on a website that seems to specialize in cosmetic upgrades (downgrades?). However, is there any real difference to these splitters to the ones used in racing?

the first two look like add on pizza trays.... those the ones you talking about?

either way, on the street i doubt they'll do much, maybe on the track though. Mike@IPS has ARC splitters and J's canards (or J's splitters and ARC canards, i forget), maybe he can give some performance feedback. definately looks cool though, if thats your goal.

Looks aren't the goal. I was just curious.

Bryan: I spent a good part of a day adjusting. I raised the car somewhat. The car is definitely stiffer and the CD player now skips occassionally on hard bumps, but overall...I like it alot.

I was looking into these as a difuser.....go to Home Depot and buy some hard plastic or aluminum flashing for cheap. Then just mold it yourself

I was told they do work (I cornered Steve Dinan at a race once). The car gets a high pressure air region in the front while you drive down the road. The high pressure high exerts force on the car and down towards the road. So when you place a splitter in the way the air presses on the splitter instead of the road.

Would I buy them? No I would not waste my money on that stuff. I would spend it on a day at the track instead. I would get much more benfit from some seat time.
