life after the itr...what car should i get?
i had my worst nightmare come true last month and had my r stolen. i bought it new and had it for 7 years and loved every moment having it but its time to move on. considering i live in chicago and i can't deal with f'ing theives i'm looking for a new car. just want to get some opinions on what car i should get. i want to get something thats def. fun to drive and i want to pay around 32k. i'm looking at a used but fairly new 3 series or the new evo. what do you guys think. any other suggestions?
I would look at...
The new Evo (older ones aren't bad either), BMW M3 or 3 series, Acura TL Type S, Lexus IS 250.
Those are actually the cars I have been looking at and the TL Type S and the IS 250 are in the lead.

I always told myself that the next car I own, would be a NSX. You can get a earlier model for around that price, and it's hard to beat it's driving experience.

+2 but realistically I would probably get a TL Type-S because I would want room for more than 2, but down the road a NSX for sure

Very true, the Accord is finally a good car. I test drove one and was pretty amazed.

Well scratch the NSX idea then haha. I've drivin the new TL-S and it is a very fun car as well. If you were looking to stick with newer Honda's, I would look into that, the new V6 Accord, or possibly the new '09 TSX Type S.

I would love to find a black on black 92-94 NSX. But after running the carfax, checking for accidents, repaints, clean title etc I usually always found something.

Hey, sorry to go off topic, but how did you deal with insurance for the R? You said you got $15K for the R in my stolen thread, but what paperwork did you need to give to the insurance? What insurance company, year, milage, and condition was your car? I want to get the most from my car. Thanks.
i actually got about 14,500 but thats actually what i was hoping for. i used that car as an everyday car for 7 years and got it up to 150,000 miles on it. It was in one major accident, and many minor accidents like 4-5. I know some stolen R's get more value, but mine had so many miles on it. The car was still in pretty good shape but had some mechanical problems, but never mentioned it to insurance considering the engine was gone, so i'm pretty satisfied with their offer. As far as papers, i had to make copies of all my receipts ( insurance said they couldn't reimburst me for after market parts, only parts that were added to the car that wasn't part of the car before, but i mailed ALL my receipts anyways), a copy of title, any documents regarding maintence or accidents of the car. Oh and my insurance company is allstate. they were ok, only thing that sucked was it took about a month for them to investigate.

Thats a good offer considering the milage you had. I had like 91K miles on my car, no accidents from me, and the previous owner said it only had a minor one, and the kbb value is only $12k. So hopefully they consider how rare the car is and give me a good offer.

I have owned 3 Evo's and Sti and 2 Type R's and the Type R is my favorite of the cars but I would recomend an 06 Evo IX it was a sweet car in stock form and handled like a lotus.
The closest you can get to an ITR in a daily driver would be a new SI. Add a K&N drop-in, and, an ingalls stiffie and the driving experience becomes even more itr like.
If you want lots more speed for the same money look at the Mazdaspeed 3, but it's driving characteristics are completely foreign from any honda product.
And obviously north of 30 grand you've got tons of options (EVO X, STI, 335i, 135i, etc.)
