Favorite R getaways?
Well last evening, I got shot down by a chick who I went out with a few times and I just got out of a 2 1/2 year relationship a few months ago. I was pretty bummed, so I went for a drive with a couple friends...
Which brings me to the question, do any of you have a favorite place to cruise around in the R to get away from everything? Mine is Prettyboy Reservior/Dam and the surrounding area. Beautiful scenery, Tons of back roads, and no one driving on them! Fun time to tear it up in the R!
Pics of said place and the R:

But locally... I have a few places. It's mostly flat here, so your best best is a twisty road and even those are hard to find.

Blur those plates!
Mine would have to be some backroads about 20min from my house. You can can lose yourself in the country backroads. The best way to get out is keep on trekking until you find something familiar, then cruise home.

I cruise out to the Cherokee National Forrest. Pass through US 421 to get to it (4xx turns and lots of ricers/cops). The forrest is much nicer than 421. Not full of switchbacks, but nice curves, no ricers, and rarely any cops.

there are a bunch of fun roads near me, but we have a high concentration of park police and state troopers so i dont go out too much for that anymore.

There's a series of about 4 roundabouts in the road that goes through Lowery Air Force base.....it's fun to pick a time w/ little or no traffic and see how fast I can make it through each roundabout
Went to school in southern Missouri/Northern Arkansas and during my time there cruising backroads engaging in various illegal activities
in my sweet '65 dodge dart. haha. I got to know those roads like the back of my hand. I've taken the R therea few times and substitute previous 'activities' with driving the hell out of the car just to experience driving those roads with a real car. There's so many twisty roads with scenic views...it's a lot of fun
Driving through the Redwood forests in Northern CA was way cool. Can't remember exact location but as I headed out from the Redwoods towards the ocean I've never seen as many twisty roads with a posted speed limit of 15 mph or so. What a blast.
For purse scenic pleasure it's hard to top highway 1. A few pics from roadtrips during last year

I couldn't help but pull over when I saw this sign and take a quick snapshot
