Default Electric Power Steering pump into K swapped car?

*****EDIT******AFTER RESEARCHING I UNDERSTAND THAT EP3 Si's have electric power steering(EPS) AND is different in the sense that there is no pump but an electrically controlled steering rack.
************************************************** ****************************

First off, I have a K swapped 99' civic with EKK1 mounts which really limits space in front of the engine.

I am looking for options other that the K's attached belt driven power steering pump such as an electric pump and was wondering if one could be installed in my car or if anyone had install an electric power steering pump at all in a car that use to have a belt driven pump.

Would it be possible to us EPS rack from another Honda?

Fact of the matter is i don't know how either operate, their size or anything else except for the idea that it would make sense to be able to swap in an electric power steering pump.

Anyone have any ideas or examples of an electric pump or rack in use??

Hmmmm......I'm coming across a similar situation myself. I'm looking at building an Atom. It has electric power steering, but it's my understanding that the steering on some cars is controlled by the ECU and on some cars it's self contained. Having it self contained would be fine provided that you can put the steering column in your car. I believe the electrical assist is on the column and not the rack. This is just my understanding, but I'm not positive. I want to build a tube frame chassis car with ABS, power steering (electrical, due to the 1.5 turns lock to lock on the rack), beefy brakes, tight suspension and a strong motor. I'm looking at a 2006 Civic SI as a donor since a salvage one will go for about $8-10,0000. I can utilize the PATS key for security. I would try to utilize the pedals as the Honda is 'fly by wire' on the throttle. The shift linkage appears to be easy to figure out. I've located a rack that has 1.5 turns lock to lock for a dune buggy. I'm sure I can put my own tie rods on it. Well, blah, blah, the list goes on, but I'm not paying $60,000 for an Atom, I'd rather build one.
