that's a lot of miles for a 97, so i'm assuming they were highway km. he should have had his timing belt done and clutch replaced by now. also ask about any accidents. look for rust.
kinda meaningless tip but, see if the door jams are clean...if they are, then it's a sign that he takes good care of his car

right now i feel comfortable with the price i just wana make sure i dont end up buying a car that needs money put into it right away. thats y i need to be able to ask the right ?s and look for the right things.

well it is a 97 which is a five year old car. 100000 miles divide that by 5 years is about 20000 miles a year which is average if you live in a metro area. Anyways, i would still take the advice of everyone else.

If you really want to be exact, a 97 in usually more likely to be a 6 year old car.. Most ppl forget that year 97 model come ou t in 96, unless the seller bought a end of year model car then you are correct(Like the seller bought 97 model in year 1997)..

HTH,

J.

make sure you get the muffler bearings checked and keep halogen headlight fluid in it.

The only thing i would worry about on that car is rust. Don't be afraid to lay on the ground to check out a car. Really with a car like that, you'd only wanna buy the chassis. I mean, you'll have to drive around on it for a while as it is. But an HX car is a good platform to build on. An EX or Si is a good car to drive. If I was gonna buy any civic and just drive it like it was, it would at least have to be an EX.

Yeah, check axles, but those are only $50 for diy'rs.
