Default Thermocouple in exhaust stream significant restriction?

Has anyone noticed a visible loss in output by obstructing the exhaust runner with a .250" diameter thermocouple? We're talking an inch or two off the head.

Do you mean an exhaust temp sensor? Not sure what purpose it would have an inch off the runner. What set-up is this for?

Yeah, the egt thermocouple. It is common knowledge that the most accurate placement is roughly half a runner length away from the head and no more than a couple inches at the most.

I was just asking about FI engines in general, mine is a gsr with a non AC Inline pro manifold if you must know.

well people run 4 EGT's all the time, so I wouldnt be too concerned with it. I do not know the runner size on your inline pro, but I would imagine you are not hurting anything.

It will be negligible at most. It really isn't obstructing that much of the passage, and there aren't any facets on it that would cause significant drag.
